Communion of Earth and Sky

Communion Haiku

Earthen feet mud deep

Spirit wind in crown blowing

Dirt with sky unite

Man the microcosm

Man is a microcosm and a bridge. Within him is contained all of creation; and within him is the Kingdom of God. Man thus unites both heaven and earth within himself. He is a ladder by which God comes down and creation goes up.

By the grace of Jesus Christ, man too is a savior. In Jesus,  God became man that we might become gods by grace. Jesus told us that we would do greater things than He because He will send us the Holy Spirit. We are saved so that we might save. This is the method by which we can bring true communion to the earth.

All Creation Waits in Groaning

St. Paul tells us that “all creation waits in groaning for the revealing of the sons of God.” Some translations say that creation waits in eager expectation. The creation is looking towards us, waiting for us to realize our true calling, to exercise our God-given authority to unite creation and divinity within us and bring salvation to the earth. Within man all things find communion.

So next time you feel the dirt beneath your feet and the breeze tussle your hair, remember, you are nature’s savior. All the earth is waiting for you. All the earth is waiting to find communion with you, with God, in you.
